Indonesian Volcano Spews Less Ash

Head of Geological Disaster Management and Volcanology Center, Surono, told reporters that Mount Merapi still yet to release its largest energy. Based on the fact, the government will prolong the red-alert status upon the volcano.

In addition, tremors continue to shake the lands of the ancient city Yogyakarta.

"Tremors and lava are still there last night," Surono told VIVAnews yesterday, Nov 10.

Despite the diminishing activities of Mount Merapi, the secure parameter is still maintained at 20 kilometers.

"We're not responsible of those people returning to their homes. We've set the safe parameter," he said.

Visual monitoring on Thursday morning at 3.58 am showed that a thick plume of ash of 800 meters high arose the volcano.

This has caused Sawangan, Talun, Muntilan, and Krinjing to be subject to heavy ash rain.
